The dental hygienists at Jessica L. Bishop DDS, PA provide detailed and gentle dental cleanings to each and every patient. Dental cleanings are a necessary part of maintaining good oral hygiene. We recommend at least two dental cleanings per year to maintain dental health. A dental exam completed by the dentist is pertinent in diagnosing tooth decay or problems. Dental exams allow us to detect minor issues before they become a major problem.
With advanced dental technologies, we are able to pinpoint hidden decay by using the Diagnodent, which is a laser that finds decay in its earliest stages. Many times, decay can be impeded with fluoride and good oral hygiene habits.
Meet Our Hygienists
Children of All Ages
We treat children of all ages at the Chapel Hill dental office of Jessica L. Bishop DDS, PA. First appointments for pediatric patients are always made fun with silly songs, new toothbrushes and a sticker at the end of each visit. It is important to instill good oral hygiene habits in children early on. During your child’s dental appointment, the dental hygienist will discuss proper brushing, flossing, and nutrition with both you and your child.
We begin seeing children at the age of 3 or when 20 primary teeth have erupted, whichever comes first. Twice yearly check-ups and cleanings are recommended.
Tooth Decay & Cavities
Tooth decay or dental cavities can be easily treated. A small amount of tooth decay will call for a composite or tooth-colored filling. Once the decay is removed from the tooth structure, a material is placed that perfectly matches your natural tooth color.
At times, a large amount of tooth decay will warrant a dental crown. A dental crown is a material that covers the entire tooth structure, ensuring strength and function. Our crowns are custom fit to your smile; in size, contour, and color.
Dental bridges conceal the loss of a tooth. We work closely with a local lab to fabricate a custom bridge that compliments your existing smile.
