Chapel Hill Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is perhaps the most commonly recommended cosmetic dentistry procedure and is safe and effective. Teeth are often stained from smoking, food, drink (coffee, tea or red wine) or poor oral hygiene and by whitening the teeth you can enhance the appearance of your smile.
There are various techniques for whitening teeth. Two of the techniques most commonly used are whitening strips found at most grocery stores and one time whitening sessions seen at malls and some dental offices. The whitening procedure Dr. Bishop uses was chosen because it achieves the best result and allows the patient to maintain that result. This procedure is described below.
-Custom trays are made in the dental office. These trays allow for better tooth coverage during the whitening process.
-Whitening gel is placed in trays and the trays are worn by the patient. These trays only need to be worn for about 30 minutes at a time. Desired results normally occur within three weeks.
-Maintenance phase – no whitening process lasts forever. To maintain the original level of whitening it is recommended to wear the original trays for a couple of treatments every six months.
