Meet Our Chapel Hill Dentistry Team

Dr. Jessica Bishop graduated from Grove City College in Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Molecular Biology with the distinction of Magna Cum Laude. She then attained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University Of North Carolina School of Dentistry in 2000.

Dentistry has been a major part of Dr. Bishop’s life, as she started out as a helper in her father’s practice at the young age of three pouring molds and assisting in the operatories by ten. She opened her current practice in Chapel Hill in 2000. Her affiliations include the American Dental Association, Dental Foundation of NC, NC Dental Society, Association of Women Dentists, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Hundreds of hours of continuing education have been completed in the areas of Invisalign, sedation dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and pharmacology.

Dr. Bishop enjoys traveling to the mountains with her husband, Lewis, and their children, Madilyn and Matthew. Her time is spent in the pool as an avid swimmer and on the road as a long distance runner. Simba and Sammi, her beloved Shitzus, will always be her first “children”.

 

Dr. Steven Bishop completed his undergraduate and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from Temple University in Philadelphia. Since then he has practiced dentistry for over 35 years in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Continuing education is important to Dr. Bishop and has included courses on Lumineers, Invisalign and cosmetic dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Steve Bishop and his wife, Ruth, have been married for over 40 years and enjoy the company of their growing family that now includes 4 grandchildren. They never travel without their Yorkies, Dylan and Daisy. Most days you will find him outdoors, tending to his flowers or improving his golf game.

 

	Elizabeth Elizabeth has been a hygienist for 12 years and has been part of our practice for the last six. She is an excellent technician, your teeth will be in great hands. She and her son, Eli, live in Graham with their miniature dachshund, Buddy. Elizabeth enjoys grilling out, working in her yard, and vacationing at the coast.
	Krystal Krystal and Dr. Bishop worked together at UNC while they were both in school. They always hoped they could work together after graduation. Krystal and Dr. Bishop have worked side-by-side now for the last 11 years. Krystal, and her husband, Stephen, live in Mebane with their son, Cameron, and their 3 dogs. While not at work, Krystal likes to vacation at the beach and spend time with her family.
	Larie As a dental assistant, Larie has over 26 years of experience in the dental field. She is our newest addition to the staff and has been with us for two years. Larie brings a bright smile and plenty of laughter. Larie and her fiance, Brad, live in Hillsborough. She enjoys spending her free time with her two daughters, hiking, and baking anything as long as it includes chocolate.
	Laura Laura has been with the practice for 10 years. Laura is a UNC alumnus and huge Tarheel supporter. She is highly involved in the Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties. She lives in Durham and has a Bichon Frise, Bradley. When not working, Laura likes to vacation in Hawaii and pull for her Carolina Tarheels.
	Laurie Laurie has been with the practice for over nine years. She keeps the office running as our Office Manager and is an expert in navigating the maze that is dental insurance. She will answer all of your billing and scheduling questions with a smile! Laurie also has years of experience as a dental assistant and won’t hesitate to jump in and help out if needed. Laurie and her husband, Philip, enjoy vacationing at the North Carolina coast with their 9 year old daughter, Courtney. In her off time, Laurie likes to go shopping and spend time with her family.
	Sandra For over 10 years now, Sandra has worked side-by-side with Dr. Bishop as her assistant. With over 26 years of experience in the dental field, Sandra is very knowledgeable and valuable to the practice. Sandra and her husband, Kenneth, live and work on a tobacco farm in Prospect Hill. Sandra likes walking the tobacco fields with her Airedale terrier, Toby. When not cooking up a storm in her kitchen, she enjoys traveling to new places and spending time with her family.
	Shannon Shannon is a dental hygienist and also takes on the task as our patient care coordinator. When not seeing patients in the clinical setting, she creates treatment plans and caters to new patients. Shannon is a UNC alumnus and involved with the Junior League. She and her husband, Steven, live in Durham with their dog, Ginger. Shannon enjoys browsing antique stores and estate sales to find furniture pieces to refurbish.
